Finn and I just completed the puppy class with Al at Longoriahaus Dog Training, and I can’t recommend him enough! Al is incredibly clear, patient, highly knowledgeable, and—most importantly—an extremely effective trainer.

He helped me lay a strong foundation for my puppy, Finn, who now understands basic obedience commands and knows that Mom is the leader! Al’s calm and confident approach made a huge difference, and I always felt supported and informed throughout the entire process.

If you’re looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs (and their humans!), Longoriahaus is the place to go.

Thank you, Al!

Al is incredible! We have a three-year-old German Shepherd who was great with us but struggled with anyone outside our home. We were worried we might have to give him up because he was somewhat unmanageable. Al was super responsive and assured us he would work with us. After the first night, we felt hopeful that our dog would respond well to training. Al worked with us just as much as he did with Loki. We learned that training is a partnership—it involves us as much as it does the dog. We saw a difference in the first week and continued training. After six sessions, we now have a well-trained dog who is much calmer and stress-free. We also learned how to handle his stress in ways we were unaware of before. Al is patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about working with dogs and integrating them into our world. Al took pictures before he left and here is a wonderful shot of our guy. We highly recommend Al to anyone that needs superior training!

Al told me there are two right times to begin training - at 8 weeks and today. It wasn't too late for us and he helped me gain confidence with our 1 1/2 year old lab who had zero recall, few manners and refused to get in the car. After 6 weekly sessions, we take daily rides in the car and our boy gets to run wild and free and I trust that I can get him to return to me each time. I am so thankful for Al's patience and encouragement as we both figured it out! I look forward to continuing our training with Al.

Thank you so much for the opportunity! It was one heck of a process but you all got it done! Hope that we can train again in the future!

Al is bilingual. He speaks fluent dog and human. I didn’t speak dog at all, and I was clearly out of my league with Leo, a 2 month old Golden Doodle. Al taught me how to communicate with Leo through the leash with and without voice commands, and how to get desired behavior by reinforcing with praise and rewards, and to be patient. We finished our first round of sessions, and after I have worked with Leo independently for a short time, we will set up more sessions. Al is very good at recognizing a dog’s capabilities (and the owner’s), and making necessary adjustments to tools and techniques. Leo has come a long way, and so have I, thanks to Al.

We took our Sydney for the 3 week puppy program. She learned to sit, down, stay and a bit of leash training. She also learned not to *charge the door* abd to wait until *invited* inside from yard and stopped jumping up on us! We were very satisfied. She was 5 months and just toooo much for us to handle. We are in our 60s. She is a golden doodle, Heeler, border collie mix so quite active! I would highly recommend Longoriahaus if you are feeling overwhelmed with a pup.

We started working with Al for our 8 month old rescue puppy. Al was nothing but professional in his approach of training Reggie AND myself. The best part of Al’s training is that it is just as much for the human as it is for the dog. Highly recommend if you want to learn along with your pup!
Response from the owner 01:21 19 Oct 24
Thank you, Kyle. It was great training with you all. Keep up the superb work!

We offer in-home training Monday through Friday, with mid-day and evening sessions to fit your schedule. Whether you prefer to train while the kids are at school, after work, or with the whole family involved, we’ll find a time that works for you. Sessions can be one-on-one or include everyone; whatever best supports your dog’s progress and your lifestyle. We want to make training feel doable not stressful.

Yes! You’ll receive personalized exercises based on your dog’s progress, your goals, and specific circumstances. Consistency is key to success, so practicing between sessions helps reinforce what your dog learns and keeps the momentum going.

You should have a crate, any gear you’re currently using, and some high-value treats. We recommend string cheese or hot dogs, but use what your dog loves most! With so many training tools out there, it can feel overwhelming. We’ll guide you toward the best equipment to support your dog’s progress and make training as smooth and effective as possible.

Definitely. From day one, we focus on what matters most to you. Whether that’s polite leash walking, coming when called, or solving specific behavior challenges at home. We’ll take the time to understand your priorities and choose a training plan that’s designed just for you and your dog.

Training doesn’t stop after your first set of sessions—every dog’s journey is different. We’ll talk through next steps based on your goals and your dog’s progress. Ongoing support is available through online sessions, our private Facebook group, and Al’s Canine Chronicles newsletter. We’re here for the long haul—ready to guide you as your dog grows and new challenges come up.

While service dog training isn’t our specialty, we can help lay a strong foundation for puppies with potential and offer guidance on the next steps to pursue specialized training.

We’re here to teach you how to train, so you can confidently work with all your dogs. Usually, we focus on one dog at a time—especially if they’re new to training—while the others take a break. The initial consultation includes a $50 fee for each additional dog (up to three). There’s no extra charge for your entire customized training plan, though longer sessions may require an additional fee.
