Training A Deaf Dog With A Remote Collar

Training a deaf dog is obviously going to be a bit more challenging, but certainly not impossible.

Here are some tips:

Put a piece of food to your dog’s nose. Then toss the food away from you. Your dog will then go to the food and and at the moment the dog puts his mouth on the food, you would tap the remote collar twice. The dog will turn around and you then show another piece of food in your hand. When the dog comes to you, reward heavily with food and petting. Ultimately the two taps with the remote collar will become the “come” command. You will need a lot of repetitions to teach this and the remote collar should only be set at a low vibration or medical grade electricity.
