Stop Leash Pulling

If you have a dog, who is pulling on the leash, a harness is the wrong tool to use. When you put pressure directly across the chest of any dog, the dog then “loads” into the pressure. That reaction is what propels the dog forward and leads to pulling.
The leash I most commonly use is called a “British Slip Leash”. It’s a leash and a collar in one. It is important to put the leash on correctly. It goes under the dog’s chin and is adjusted behind the dog’s ears. When your dog gets to the end of the leash and you change directions and walk the opposite way, there will be some discomfort for the dog. That signals to the dog to stop pulling. The moment your dog walks back towards you, the leash will go slack, the discomfort will subside and your dog will discontinue pulling.
